June 2018 – The Hideaway by Lauren K Denton

Photo Jun 25, 4 51 56 PMOn a rainy night in Georgia (couldn’t resist that) umbrellas were opened and members drove to La Petite Maison de Joie (Kimy’s home) for book club!   For those who attended thank you!  Those absent were missed!

Our June book was quite delightful.  Jenny and I actually finished the book on the beaches at Fripp Island SC a few days back.   It’s a great beach read! Completely!

For bio on Lauren K Denton click HERE   I see she has a new book out called Hurricane Season – the cover looks delightful.  On my list to read!

For book club questions and the strawberry cupcakes recipe -which much to my chagrin no one made these for me!! ::::pouting horribly::::::::  click HERE   I can’t pout too terribly because my bestie made TOMATO PIE which was DIVINE :::::beaming::::::::

We settled in to chat and discuss the book among other things (as one does at book club).  We all agreed we loved the way Ms. Denton writes.  She paints a lovely picture of characters, New Orleans and her shop, and of course The Hideaway.  For me personally, there’s so many pieces of me in this book it is like putting on my old thick cotton beach sweater.   It’s comforting and makes me warm. You’ll need to read the book to find out more!!!!

Thanks everyone for coming out on such a dreary humid summer night in Atlanta! We’re lucky Anda didn’t melt into a wee puddle by the time she walked from the car to the front door!

See you all next month!  Cheers!!! To books and friends!

**Make sure you follow our book club blog so that you don’t miss our meetings! Woot!
